At Emmanuel we believe that the Bible's message is the most relevant and exciting news in the world, and that Christianity stands up to rigorous questioning. This is because it's based on historic events that are unique and momentous, and historically credible: the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. These events not only establish that Jesus is who he said he was, but they also form what Christians call 'the gospel': the momentous news that Jesus has conquered death, now rules this world, offers life and forgiveness to all who turn to him, and will return to judge the world. To know Jesus is to know life as God intended. To reject Jesus is to remain under God's judgment. Whatever your stage of Christian understanding you're welcome to explore the message of the Bible with us at Emmanuel. Here are a few ways to find out more: Sunday morningsAt the heart of our Sunday meetings are two things to help you to investigate Christianity further: the Bible explained clearly and conversations with other people. We always expect people who are not Christians to be at our meetings, and try to make sure that everything that happens is clear and accessible. You're more than welcome to just come along and listen in, but will also find plenty of opportunities to chat with church members and ask questions, both before and after the 'formal' part of the meeting. Enquirers' coursesWe run short courses to help people to find out more, called Christianity Explored. This is an informal seven week course that we run regularly to introduce people to the basics of the Bible's message by looking at Mark's gospel. It explores who Jesus was, what his aims were and what it means to follow him. Each of the six evenings includes a talk (or DVD) designed to explain an aspect of Christian belief and to spark discussion over a meal or coffee and cake. The course runs twice a year and for more details on how to enrol e-mail: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call +44(0)1926 424584 We also run a separate Christianity Explored course for people for whom English is a second language.
