Children and young people |
|
We have a growing number of children and babies at Emmanuel and each week we run several clubs for toddlers, children and young people. During our morning services, children of primary age are invited to join in with Sunday school. While the adults are in the main meeting, the children can enjoy Bible teaching at the same time, aimed specifically at their own age group.
KIDS ARE SAFE HERE! We welcome anyone through our doors regardless of race, gender or social background. We are open to everyone. Because we are so open, we need to be even more vigilant than schools and others working with children and young people. Following national guidance from the Churches Child Protection Advisory Service (CCPAS), we do all we can to ensure the safety of children and vulnerable adults in a variety of ways:
- We have a safeguarding co-ordinator who is responsible for dealing with any child protection concerns and the things we need to do to keep children safe.
- We have a policy in place which covers all areas of safeguarding and good working practice (a copy is available on request).
- We have a safe recruitment process for workers, volunteers and leaders. This requires anyone in regular contact with children or vulnerable adults to undergo a Criminal Records Check. This is not simply a form filling exercise - it ensures that as parents and carers you can have confidence in the people looking after your children when you’re not around.
- Our teams of workers receive regular child protection training in safeguarding and good working practice, and are accountable to each other and their leaders. We are committed to maintaining links with our local statutory agencies and we accept that they too have a key role in the protection of our children and vulnerable adults.
We want to give a clear message to everybody that we are serious about child and adult protection, and supporting our workers and leaders to provide the best possible care.
